Our readingCarrier's answer is about the furnace itself. It does not say that the rest of the installation needs nothing, and it does not name the equipment the dissipation control ships in — so the furnace staying is not the same as the job needing no mitigation hardware anywhere.

ManufacturerCarrier's R-454B piping guideline sets the liquid line for its whole single-stage and two-stage range in one table, and every 1/4 and 5/16 inch row in it is labeled AC Only. A heat pump gets a 3/8 inch liquid line at every tonnage from 1.5 to 5, with nothing beside it. The choice of liquid diameter that an air conditioner has does not exist on a heat pump.

ManufacturerBeyond the lengths that document defines as long line — 80 equivalent feet on a 3/8 inch liquid line, or as little as 35 feet of vertical drop with the outdoor unit below the indoor one on an air conditioner — Carrier requires accessories rather than simply allowing a longer run. Every long line application must use a TXV indoor metering device; a crankcase heater is required if the compressor did not leave the factory with one, a hard start kit on single-stage units, and on a heat pump a bi-flow liquid line solenoid within two feet of the outdoor unit.
