What replaced the Carrier 24VNA9?

Checked against 24VNA9 Infinity 19VS Variable Speed Air Conditioner — Product Data, September 2026.

The 24VNA9 is an R-410A air conditioner — Carrier's Infinity tier, five-stage. R-410A equipment stopped being manufactured after 31 December 2024, so there is no new one of these to buy — but that does not mean your only option is a whole new system.

Whether your indoor coil, your copper and your furnace can stay is a Carrier rule rather than a rule about this model: the Carrier rules page states all three, with the documents behind them.

A like-for-like R-410A outdoor unit, labelled "For Service Only", is still a legal option in most states and keeps your existing coil — the phase-out guide sets out when that route closes .

What the documents say about this model

ManufacturerThis family sells two units at the same nominal tonnage that do not take the same copper. The 2 ton comes as a 24, on a 3/4 inch vapour line, and as a 25 on 7/8 inch; the 3 ton comes as a 36 on 7/8 inch and as a 37 on 1-1/8 inch. Knowing the tonnage is not enough to look up the line size here — the capacity digits on the data plate are what decide it.

ManufacturerCarrier approves this family for up to 100 feet of equivalent line length, and states that longer line set applications are not permitted. There is no accessory that buys more: the liquid line is 3/8 inch at every capacity and the limit is the same at every capacity.

ManufacturerWith the outdoor unit below the indoor unit, the 4 and 5 ton sizes fall outside the acceptable range beyond 70 feet of vertical separation, where the smaller sizes are still allowed at 71 to 80 feet. On a tall house the largest unit in the family is the one that runs out of height first.
