What replaced the Carrier 25VNA8?

The 25VNA8 is an R-410A heat pump — Carrier's Infinity tier, five-stage. R-410A equipment stopped being manufactured after 31 December 2024, so there is no new one of these to buy — but that does not mean your only option is a whole new system.

What the documents say about this model
ManufacturerTwo units in this family are both stamped 24. They differ by one letter — 24A and 24B — and they do not take the same copper: the B is on a 3/4 inch vapour line and the A on 7/8. Reading the capacity off the data plate and stopping there gets the line size wrong on one of them, and the letter that decides it looks like a build code.
ManufacturerCarrier's headline sound figure for this family, 55 dBA, is the level in low speed with the Silencer System II — not the level at full output. A variable-speed heat pump spends most of its running hours at part load, which is what makes that the useful number, but it is not the number to expect on the coldest night of the year.
Where the mapping comes from
DistributorCarrier Enterprise's 2025 equipment transition guide lists the 25VNA8 as an R-410A Infinity-tier heat pump: a five-stage unit, sold for all regions. No coastal option is listed. The guide's Puron Advance column for this row is the 27VNA0.
