What you can keep
Indoor coil
Has to be replacedYour existing R-410A indoor coil cannot stay. Carrier states that full furnace coils are not interchangeable and that the refrigerant the indoor coil is designed for must match the outdoor unit's.
Not checked: your own coil against this unit. That needs its model number, which is on the coil label inside the air handler or furnace cabinet.

Can stay, with conditionsYour copper can normally stay. Carrier says there is no system-side reason to replace a line set, because R-454B uses the same POE oil as R-410A — but it puts the decision under your building code.
- The line set continues to meet the local building code in force, which is what Carrier makes the reuse conditional on.
- In high-rise buildings, Carrier states that fire breaks will be required on the refrigerant run.
Not checked: your line size. The 27VNA3 uses 3/8" liquid with 7/8" or 1-1/8" suction, by capacity, and you have not measured the outside diameter of both copper lines.

What the documents say about this model
ManufacturerThe family does not use one compressor. Its physical data gives the 3 and 4 ton a variable speed rotary compressor and the 5 ton a variable speed scroll, under a single model name and a single tier. The 3 ton also runs a slower fan, 200 to 750 rpm against 200 to 800 on the other two, and carries eight condenser coil circuits where they carry nine.
ManufacturerHow far above the indoor unit this one may sit depends on which size is quoted. With the outdoor unit above, the 5 ton is allowed 200 feet of vertical separation and the 3 and 4 ton only 100 — the sheet prints that split inside a single cell of its table. Below the indoor unit every size stops at 80 feet.
ManufacturerIts service valve is 7/8 inch on all three sizes, while the tube the unit is rated on is 1-1/8 inch at 4 and 5 tons. On those two the fitting at the cabinet is a full size under the copper that runs to it, so measuring at the valve would understate the line by one size.
ManufacturerOf its three sizes the 3 ton is the one that suffers most from thin copper, because it is the only one rated on a 7/8 inch line rather than 1-1/8. At 100 feet of equivalent length it gives up 8.2 percent of cooling capacity on a 5/8 inch line and 3.4 percent on 3/4, against 1.8 percent on the size it is rated for.
ManufacturerIts own sheet rates it further for cooling than for heating: up to 23 SEER2 against up to 9.5 HSPF2, with heating operation stopping at -13F outdoor ambient. The compressor modulates from 20 to 100 percent of capacity, and on the 3 ton that reaches the ductwork as a cooling airflow spanning 325 CFM at the bottom of comfort mode to 1,200 at the top of efficiency mode.
