What replaced the Carrier 24VNA6?

The 24VNA6 is an R-410A air conditioner — Carrier's Infinity tier, variable-speed. R-410A equipment stopped being manufactured after 31 December 2024, so there is no new one of these to buy — but that does not mean your only option is a whole new system.

What the documents say about this model
ManufacturerCarrier built this family in four capacities and no others — 2, 3, 4 and 5 ton, with no 1.5, 2.5 or 3.5 ton size. The maximum liquid line is 3/8 inch throughout. The vapour line is 3/4 inch at 2 ton, 7/8 inch at 3 ton, and 1-1/8 inch at both 4 and 5 ton.
ManufacturerBoth the 4 ton and the 5 ton carry a 7/8 inch service valve against a 1-1/8 inch rated vapour line. On Carrier's single-stage families only the 5 ton does that, so on this one an installer measuring at the valve is a size out across two of the four capacities.
ManufacturerThe 2, 3 and 4 ton units use a variable-speed rotary compressor; the 5 ton uses a variable-speed scroll. It is the same family and the same Greenspeed control, with a different machine inside the largest cabinet.
ManufacturerThe refrigerant charge runs from 14.15 to 15.35 pounds across the family and does not climb with capacity — the 4 ton holds the least of the four and the 2 ton the most. Anyone adjusting charge for a reused line set starts from the figure for their own size, not from an assumption that a bigger unit holds more.
